Home is which reflects you and reflects your surroundings too. Home is which connects to you and to your surroundings too. Home is which enhances your lifestyle. Home is which adds values to your being. Home is which takes care of all your requirements.
While designing a home,
I like to open up the space, making it larger, well ventilated, lavishly connected. I design well connected rooms, which provide ease of flow for not only the residents but also for the design. The core concept of a design should flow throughout the home, from room to room. Even though each room might have its own design, combinations and theme, they should simply respect the underlying concept which is the soul of that particular home. I make sure that all windows and doors which connects to the surrounding homes, apartments or spaces, are aligned externally with their design. Exterior of the home should follow the common design and color of the society, surrounding area.
While designing a balcony,
Plants are so important. Plants in the balcony can corelate to the garden outside. Openings in your home can connect to the sky outside. Let the sky, greenery, birds, light and air flow freely inside your home. Sunlight and air purify your space. Seasons descend to your space all their glories. Nature flows inside. Although most of the windows are protected with nets, birds do stop by if you have open balconies and indoor gardens. Chirping of birds and voice of the wind can fill your home with life. Home should be alive with positive vibes. Your balcony should invite you to come over and have a tea, to play music and just to feel the breeze.
While designing various elements,
Make sure all design elements are easy to maintain and of durable material. Few elements of design should be reflected around, reused in multiple places to strengthen feelings of them. If there are vertical lines, they should be reflected around so that they complement each other.
While designing various activity zones,
Various activity zones should be treated differently, so that they set the moods, and fetch out emotions. One corner should set the mood for listening to music, playing guitar and another area should give you the feel to read books. Your home should be designed considering all the possible functionalities, but functionalities should be interconnected, correlated and must be integral parts of the core design. Flooring in living room and flooring in balcony must be treated differently as they are different zones. Add colors as per the demand of the zone. Break monotonous color and finishes with some vibrant colors and new finishes. I prefer to use more of the natural material and finishes as it keeps residents connected with nature, your larger home.
